Im getting horrific MPG from my 206 GTI, I seem to be spending about a tenner a day just on petrol at the moment. Are fuel prices really that bad, cant really think what would make it use up more fuel, doesnt seem to be excessively overfueling, it runs fine anyway. Any ideas? Danke.

What use is quoting the post?

If he's driving 5000 miles a day and only using £10 that's quite good.

Petrol round here is nearly 1.10 a litre. So your only getting about 9 litres for your money. That's why!

Firstly when did you get a 206 gti?

When I had mine I don't remember it being anywhere near as bad as that.

206 GTi? Since when?

But yes, the issue you have is that fuel is creeping it's way up again.

Get a scooter, it's the future. £7 a week.

Ha, been driving a 206 for about 3 months. My clio has been sitting at home doing nothing in that time, its been for sale for ages. Hopefully going this weekend. Then il sell the 206 and get something else... God knows what.

Anyway... I dont have a heavy right foot, I might have done in the clio but that gave me 40mpg average and the consumption was brilliant. The 206 is slow and boring, im like a granny in it. Filled it up earlier and it cost me 50 quid. Done 25 miles in it and ive already done over a quarter of a tank. I would state my MPG graham but god knows how you work it out. At least the clio had a computer to tell me that!

Nothings up with the clio, id put 8k on it in 4 months and since we have the mx5 for track now I figured I couldnt justify keeping it, so I took the 206 off my mum when she got a new car and stopped racking up the miles on the clio and put it up for sale. It had niggles aswell that would always play on my mind, the 206 is basically just a run around, and its quite nice not having to care about it so much.
