me and my mate are of down york strip in june next year in a head to head race. ive got a corsa with a late type xe in but nothing else power wise done, he has a 1.6 nove gte engine. ported polished lightend and balanced with throttle bodys and adjustable fpr all set up on a rolling road. at the min who's is most likely to win and how can i get mine to defo win without spending alot of money or stripping the inside?

it'll be no more than 150, with them mod's on a 1.6 8v...
nova will probably just edge it, as they are quite a fair bit lighter than corsa's

Nova will be on about 130bhp, depends if he has cams and if the rev limit has been increased.
The c16se engines are amazing can get 150bhp on the standard TB and inlet.

when you say without spemding a lot of money, how much we talking? As a xe with ported head and cams should be pritty lively if you can streach to that and a lightened flywheel and raised rev limit should see you beat the nova comfortably

Oh im sorry i assumed it was an x16xe engine! And yes 190bhp is a guess but i know a nova with an x16xe with all the above quoted stuff on thats putting out 190 bhp proven.Believe his name is DHdev or oli?

as far as im aware yes. Maybe it has cams too im not sure.Still doesnt mean they have to be cunts

Thats a very high figure tbh,thats near twice standard power. I don't think a xe would be 190bhp with those mods.

i dint really want to rip head off again as it only been rebuilt 3 month, i do like the idea of bike carbs or t/b's but they far tooo expensive new. atm mine just has a decat and k&n
