'Mercedes have now confirmed it has sold it's shares in McLaren, and acquired 75.1% of Brawn GP in a deal which will see the team renamed Mercedes GP from 2010 onwards'

'The move will see Button move to McLaren to partner Lewis Hamilton, whilst Nico Rosberg will partner Nick Heidfeld at Mercedes GP'

Would have preferred to have seen Brawn GP remain seperate.

Wonder how Button and Hamilton will work regards team orders.

It is now also believed that Button will be joining McLaren, on a salary double that of Brawn GP. However the deal isn't all about the money McLaren are offering, sources have said he thinks it more likely that McLaren will be more competitive.

Surely Button is going to play second fiddle to Hamilton with him being McLaren's golden child that they have funded through out a lot of his motorsport career?

I don't think there will be any team orders, they will both be sent out on track to do the best they can IMO. Don't think there will be any favourtism in the team.

Hamilton FTW btw

Barrichello has been signed by Williams

I cant see why merc have done this they were in a good position with Mclaren.
Wouldnt of thought Brwn would have given up his own team so easily unless he would have lost the engines

Why, it creates stability for the Brawn team.

Should be interesting.

If Ferrari get a half decent car Alonso will be hard to beat I reckon.

Mercedes are namely an engine supplier - Mercedes HPE. Buying Brawn (who have the best facilities but lack staff to operate them) is the best way to become a succesful F1 Team. Ross Brawn is still staying on as Team Principal.

interesting article about it here
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/andrewbenson/2009/11/what_mercedes_buyout_of_brawn.html

I agree, dont think Button will be able to match Hamilton. Like the guy says the team is built around Hamilton and the way he drives. Cant see them changing that?

Does that mean Kimi is retiring then? He said it was either McClaren or retirement.
