how hard is it to smooth the little v bit in my front and rear bumpers and also the plate recess on the front so i can colour code the plastic top and have them smoothed thanks.

i will remove this post when i have a good anser thanks

I wouldn't suggest doing it if you have no knowledge on it, although they do say it's the best way to learn. I'd take it to a bodyshop.

Fibreglass, easiest way. easy enough if you know what your doing. Also loads of people say fibreglass will crack etc, i wont if its done right, and un touched after.

i wanna learn how to do it on a spare bumper but i dont no were to get plastic welding done,will it be alryt if i fill the joints in the bumper up with a strong mix of fiberglass and then body filler completly smooth.

Yeah, mate did it on his old C, lasted about 15month till he bumped it, never cracked though, just rub into the V bit and around it with 80grit sand paper, gives the fibreglass something to stick to.

sealey do a good plastic welding kit, around £150 but you can do it on the cheap with a good soldering iron and some plastic pieces cut from another bumper, just make sure its all the same type of plastic

so if i cut up my old platic spliter or something and use a soldering iron to melt the platic eill that work??or will it be easyer to just use fiberglass

if your splitter is the same plastic then yes, should say on the back

i had a look on ebay at plastic welders and there only heat guns with soome plastic welding rods,so im thinking because iv got a hot air gun i could just use that. but is plastic welding better than fiber glass

if you are going to do it with fibre glass drill small hole all the way along your swage line and when you fill it with the fibre glass push it into these holes aswll and will give a better hold
