Really starting to like these cars and for just over £10k you get a lot of car for your money.
For example:
£10,995 will get you,
2004, 04reg
3 door
58k
Duel Climate Control
Xenon Headlights
Electric windows
Electric mirrors
Factory Fitted Alarm System
Traction control
Power steering
Driver airbag
Passenger airbag
ABS
Black Over Grey Leather S Line Seats
Audi Radio CD System
Full S Line Styling Kit with Boot Spoiler
Aluminium Door Mirrors
19" Alloy Wheels
Plus deristricted and a remap the same engine in a TT "apparently" goes off the clock at 170mph.
So all in all i dont see it as a bad buy. But would you go for the 3.2 quattro or one a bit further down the range with the same styling kit? Insurance is no problem but what about running costs compared to the rest of the range? Worth it or just stick with a smaller engined one?

The 1.8T are meant to be the better engines.

JR says:
"not fast IMO mate and expensive to run is an honest view"
I quite like them though tbh

I love the styling but you can get the styling with a smaller engine so really its just power and "status" of the car that sets it apart. What engine would JR suggest? petrol or diesel?

i very nearly got one but got a bmw e46 330ci instead mainly due to better looks and near identical performance but the a3 3.2 is a real wolf in sheeps clothing.
to sum it up its basically a mk5 golf r32 dressed as an audi a3. it doesnt quite have the exhaust note or looks of an r32 but alot of people prefer the audis interior

Thats exactly what i thought but theres a pic of his speedo over 170mph. It was a 3.2 Quattro TT. To be honest i dont believe it but i cant see why it wouldnt get close seeing as they are restricted to 155mph anyway.

it would certainly be good for 160 standard and derestricted so dont think 170 would be out of the question with a remap, not that your ever going to need to go that fast

I have the same car but newer and with the 2.0TDI 170 engine. The 1.8T is not the one to get in this shape A3. Its either the 2.0T or 2.0TDI if you want to go diesel.

I love it... 3.2 V6 MPG would annoy me but if you can afford to run it go for it.

personally wouldnt go for the 3.2 v6 unless u really have got a lot of cash to burn or dont do a lot of miles... if its the same engine thats in the mk5 r32 then it will empty ur wallet at a crazy rate.
i'd go for a 2.0T or a 2.0TDi - got one of these myself and really impressed. plenty a torque on tap and good for like 100miles to a tenner even giving it big licks all the time

Dont get me wrong i could never see it doing over 170mph its just what ive been told. But surely a car weighing just over a ton with a 3.2 V6 thats restricted to 155mph anyway shouldnt be too far off that? It wouldnt hurt to have a tail wind and be going down hill though

Maybe its just one of those engines that seems to run out of power but then the speed just keeps crawling up slowly so it will do the speed you just need a long enough stretch of road

I'm not sure why you are bothered about the top speed so much. Not many occassions when you get there unless you have something ridiculously powerful

Ye im not too bothered about top speed as its very rare i would ever get it flat out. Im just wondering what the best engine is overall and sometimes the biggest is the best overall -- MPG, Gearbox in traffic/motorway/steady driving, suspension, interior, running costs, service costs etc
If i can get the same spec bodywork and interior with a lesser engine for a lesser price then thats fine by me aslong as the lesser engine isnt going to fall apart
