Ive tried searching for the details of it on the internet but it seems to vary from garage to garage. What ive been wondering is:
Is there a condition your car has to be in? eg. can i remove all my non standard parts, seats, lights, etc and not replace them or do i need to put in atleast 1 seat and lights even if they dont work?
Are there price bands for what i would get for my car or is it down to the garage?
Is it applicable to all garages or just participating garages and is it new or 2nd hand cars?
Its all just a bit confusing to me

I would remove the non standard parts and sell those as the scrappy will get to sell them on otherwise!

Strip it and tow the shell in.
As long as its taxed/mot'd and insured, id argue the case!

well it has MOT for about another 6months.
i was going to take off my wheels, suspension, brakes, seats, cd player, lights, bonnet, boot, sideskirts, front bumper and grill.
Will i need to replace all these items with ones in working order or can i just chuck some mouldy seats in, cracked lights, cracked front bumper, steel wheels, standard suspension, standard brakes, dented bonnet and rusty boot??? Or would that get me less of a part exchange rate?

just because the car has an mot does not mean its road legal, it just means its safe at the time of test,
the scrappage scheme the car has to be a full working car owned a year or more

And since no one else has answered the question, only applies to brand new cars.

Unless you go to car craft who will take your car and give you £2K towards their used range.

When my Mum scrapped her 4x4 using the scrappage scheme they didnt even look at the car. Just told them where it was parked up outside and handed over the details.

You are better off keeping your own car even if its a rusting piece of shit than buying something from Car Craft.

Otherwise you'll end up paying £18k for a rusting 4 year old Clio.

Right looks like im going to have to do a bit of thinking. What are the reviews like of car craft? Worth looking into or just a bunch of rip off badgers?

Oh I didn't know that
But would be cheaper just to hand over your bank account details tbh.
Car craft are (mostly) an absolute rip off. No end of stories of people buying something old and crap spec and paying 3 or 4 times over the odds. That said, anyone who signs up to one of those deals wants their head examining anyway

as others have said, it needs to be in full working order so it can be driven on public roads so lights need to work and tyres can't be slicks etc.
but, yes you can replace your bonnet and boot with rusty, dented ones and part worn tyres on steel wheels.
doesn't have to be in any condition, just road legal.

seems daft why it needs to be road legal when it gets scrapped straight away.
wonder legally are garages allowed to remove stuff themselves before it gets taken to be crushed etc?
