in my car I just looked down to change the heater and looked back up and the car infront had just stopped and I was very close to it, I had to slam on the brakes and went straight into the back of her at about 10mph

problem. my cars front end is damaged quite a lot, but her cars back bumper is absolutely fine, just a tiny chip at the bottom which you can't even see

she wants 618 for a new bumper, or go through my insurance and claim that way

what should I do? its a lot of money for the bumper but I'm sacrificing my no claims bonus if I claim..

Depends how much your insurance will be without the no claims doesn't it. If your insurance will go up higher than £618 then pay the £618 or vice versa.

Just go through insurance.

You have nothing to loose and after 5 years typically you do not have to declare past claims.

Also why is she being slated for going through Saab?

It is her car, she did ask to be crashed in to and it is her right to have it going to a place she is happy with with. You would all do the same....

Agreed tbh. Not her fault and I can't blame her for wanting a dealer to do the work.

£618 for a bumper I didn't even pay that for my car she's trying to rob you, most probably has a credit card bill for £600 and is trying to rob you so she can pay it.

It's a chip, offer her £200 for a "back steet garage". She's not even going to get it done if the chip is hidden away and not seen. £200 for nothing.

Point out, even if she claims off your insurance - she will be effected still if she claims.

Saab parts are expensive, brother just paid a grand (+lab) for a new front bumper and front strut and that wasn't even from a dealer.
Go through insurance though, you don't really have any NCB to be worth worrying about, it's the cheapest route and it won't really put your insurance come next year.

Go through the insurance.
It will probably go to a "back street" garage anyway not many saab dealers have their own bodyshops now

Its completly upto her what happens really. If shes had a quote for £600+ I'd just let her go through the insurance if I was in your position.

The thing is, she's probably already put in for whiplash etc.

If you do hand her any cash, make sure she signs something to say she has no aches or pains..

remember if you claim then when you get your next policy you will have to declare that you have made a claim, ends up putting your insurance up for years.

id just pay for it, going through the insurance you end up paying for years for one mistake.

i did something similar years back, scuffed up the rear bumper of a focus, paid for a new bumper out of my own pocket as the difference on the insurance each year made it much cheaper to just pay out of my pocket, at least then once its paid you can forget about it.
