Anyone got any experience of these?

Off to look at a 53 plate one tomorrow. Mileage is 55k, up for 11k. First one I have been to look at, hoping might be the replacement for the astra

Love them, interior isnt the nicest mind. A lot of car for the money, I'd try get the price down a touch though as they seem to be going for round the 9 1/2 - 10k mark for that year/mileage.

My boss has 1, 53 plate, he has done a few things to it himself... looks really nice.

however, about 2 months ago the clutch went, apparantly this is a common problem after a certain mileage, cant remember exactly what tho. and shortly after that was replaced, it started misfiring, new coil pack, plugs and leads sorted that out

yeah i agree for 7-8k they are a fair ammount of car for the money. However 10k+ for a 6-7 year old ~200hp hot hatch dnt sound like that much of a bargain. i know they hav a huge following n thats what keep the price high....

212bhp and easily tuneable. brembo brakes, sparco seats. quiaffe? diff. all got stuff there, not your average run of the mill cheap shit.

very good base for mods they are.

only things that seemed to go wrong with them is the typical coil pack fault, and that the clutch's went prity quick (but thats down to people spanking them everywhere and slipping the clutch)

ace cars they handle nice, they look aggressive and they are a limited number run.
also they are quick as standard but can be made absalute animals...
drove a 360bhp one and you couldnt boot it anywhere unless it was on a track.. fucker was so violent in power delivery that it just threw itself into the curb and was crazy quick

not that easy are they? i can appriciate all that n they are a good spec as standard. however for that money i'd rather hav an 04 plate STI. better car for english roads and weather. quicker point to point aswell includin mods on a £/£ basis.

all i can say is you change the breaks on a STi for origenal subaru ones then you compair that to the price for the RS...

something goes wrong on a impretsa(sp) or a evo then its going to be very expensive..

almost everything on the RS is the same as the 2.0 focus they even used the same water pump which was a known problem on the zetec engines.. interior parts are all the same as the cheap focus so its not to bad to run..

personaly i'd love and evo or a scubi but i just coldnt aford to keep the bugger on the road.. (when i had a job)

The brakes on an STi will be expensive yes, because, like the RS, they have pretty large Brembo's!

yeah they will b expensive, but like you say will b similar to focus as they both hav brembos as standard. When people say easily tunable to get around 300 horse it will still cost you best part of 2k i would hav thought.
