Sister had a bit of an off on Tuesday, skidded on diesel spilled on a roundabout and caught the edge of a tree......
The result?
Sister tells me that the metal alongside the windscreen (that meets the wing) isn't bent and its a trick of the light but I'm not so sure tbh.
The insurance company reckon the damage is over £3000 and so will want to write the car off. Gutting as she's only had it a little while 
Maybe I'm being simple, but to me that looks like a new wing, new door and (trying to keep things cheap) knock the dent out of the windscreen side thingy.
Assessment from someone who really knows what they're looking at would be appreciated though.

Door and wing minimum.. Second hand parts will be around £100-150..
If the flitch isnt bent its a cheap fix.
As for skidding on diesel.. hmmmmm.

i'm no expert but as davey said, I'd imagine new door and wing at the most.

not too bad if just door and wing, a pillar at window is definatly bent but easily repaired, however if the a pillar is bent at the door hinges then could get quite costly

Defo a dent in the A pillar! That could be pulled out with a glue stick to save having to do any paint work.

Id say a pillar will be bent where the hinges are, may be ok but they arent all that strong.

The hinges are designed to bend first.. Nothing a 10lb mallet wouldnt fix.

just heard from the insurance company. They're saying that there is suspention damage, tracking is out, front bumper needs replacing etc hence the cost. Sounds like they're just adding on as much as possible to make sure it gets written off tbh.
Whats a flitch?

The other part, MAYBE you can knock it back out.
front bumper doesn't look damaged to me.

I've had worse than that in my old 'B' (someone literally drove into the side of me) all that broke suspension wise was the lower arm which is cheapy cheap IIRC?
Obviously needed to get tracking done too (say £20) plus bodywork and a new alloy (even though the existing one was fine just scratched  )

Not too sure on the suspension damage, though i haven't seen the car myself so difficult to say.
Police drove the car home though and thought it was fine, although they're obviously not mechanics.

does she have many years no claims?? if not i wouldnt even of rung insurance prob wont be a difficult fix, even if insurance want to write it off thenbuy it back, have it repaired and pocket the rest

Having seen the picture and given that she hasn't got any no-claims yet I wouldn't have rung the insurance company either tbh. As I say, the police drove it home (as she was pretty upset) and said it drove fine. I reckon it'll be a dead cheap fix. If I can get hold of a door and wing in the same colour I'm sure I'll be able to sort that myself. Wouldn't bothered getting it resprayed to match, shes not got much cash so do it on the cheap cheap.
If there is actually suspension damage that might be beyond my limited talents though

really woudl be suprised if there was suspension damage, wheel looks central and doesnt apear to be camber on teh wheels
Normally the tracking would be knocked out first, as has been said probs just wing, door, maybe flich or slightly dented a post, depends if its worth a repair to that.
Personally if ur doing it on your own i would, get a new door and wing, easy times in luton in the correct colour, when swaping them over get the hinges of the donor car for the door and take pictures to see damage if any below and leave the A pillar.
Then take it to get all tracked up if needed.

Nice one all. Glad to hear it shoudln't be too much of a job.
Now waiting for the insurance engineer to come back to her with a final value that they reckon of repair. Then hope the insurance offer a decent price.
We reckon the car would be £4k to replace like-for-like (it was my mums car from new and she gave it to my sister if you're wondering why she has no money but a decent car ) so minimum payout of £3500, minus 10% minus her excess would be £2750 settlement. Plenty of cash to fix it 
That is unless I've misunderstood what the insurance company want to do!
