Yo! Not sure if anyone on here has any knowledge of Range Roves but basically:

I'm looking to purchase a Range Rover, im wanting a diesel model.

Ideally i want the Sport HSE diesel, but i cant afford that being about £30k second hand starting price!

What i was thinking of doing, is getting a lower model Diesel Range Rover and adding the Sport HSE kit onto it. Along with the other bits and pieces basically creating a Replica.

Is this possible? Does anyone know if the chassis are the same / which chassis year model i would need to for the Sport HSE parts to fit it.

Also, what the best Diesel Model is.

Thanks guys x

Yeah I think they're based on the discovery platform. I think they share similar interior to them.. same dash etc...

Are you talking about lower model range rovers or lower model sports?

It's 2 different cars, the normal range rover being about double the price.

all the sports are the same size, if thats what you mean? the TDV8 is the best but the other is the 2.7 v6TDI which my dad has, it returns about 30mpg, his is the SE, but has a few options to make it the same spec as a HSE, but without the trim bits. good car though, very comfortable.

The Range Rover and Range Rover Sport are two different cars.

What model year were you thinking?

P38 done up will look like a P38 with bits stuck on.

If you want a cheap Range Rover that looks expensive you need a 52 plate L322 with a private reg and later grille and headlights.

They start at about 10 grand.

Older will just look older.

4.4 V8 or 6 cyclinger 2.9 TD from 2002, says Wikipedia.
Other engines in later years.

she's had an 09 plate one for a couple of weeks (which the delivery driver crashed into the hotel gates with!!! ) before it was replaced by this 53 plate one. It was meant to be temporary but I think she'll end up with it permanently - its a useful car; doesn't look as "Cheshire wives" as a sport or newer spec RR; the interior is comfortable and the gadgets are great - TV's, Fully electric seats with memory settings, height adjustable suspension, zoned climate control etc etc. Its great for long distance or for nipping to the shops/ikea.

She's convinced its easier to drive, park and attack other people on country lanes with than her Fiesta!

Only downside is that its the petrol engined 4.4l V8 [305hp] so isn't great on fuel; also if we were able to I would fit the updated front end and later spec wheels to tidy it up and modernise it a bit.
