does anyone one here have a van that they only use for social, domestic, pleasure and commuting? i'm struggling like fuck to find an insurer that will insure me for that alone. Apparently because i'm an Electrician and i own a van i must use it for work and therefore have to pay £690 for my insurance. it's fucking ridiculous. all i have is an astravan so its basically an astra estate without rear seats. i only have it because it makes life easier when going biking or fishing and i have no real need for a car.
last year i found a company that would do it but they have stopped now so my renewal is twice as much. i barely drive the fucking thing during the week, roughly 8 miles a day.

I'm with Churchill. Fooking expensive though as I'm 22 and had to start a fresh with NCB's as I kept them on my car.
First year I piad £1100 FC, now paying £960 FC, will have 2 years NCB on it come January, hopefully it'll go down properly then!

Mate, i have a 17td astra van. Im a data analyst for a bank so have no use for it for work. I use it forfishing, taking the dog out etc.
I was having trouble getting a decent quote as places like money supermarket dont list vans. What i did in the end was to get a quote for an astra estate 1.7td. Then i rang the top 5 companies listed and said i want to go ahead with the policy but can i check the model. After they amended it to a van 4 of the 5 companies prices's remaind the same.
My best quote before was£400 from the aa but got it down to 200 tpft after doing that
