How do you no what year the engine is? and which ones hav the coscast head?

Dont no about the year of the engine mate but you can tell if its a coscast head by a "coscast" stamp beside 1 of the inlet holes on the head. Coscast heads ither have or don't have a frost plug, can't remember which!

well somebody told me that if you loook inside the oil cap theres a number on sum part of the cam (89, 90....) he said that was suppost to be the year of engine?

Thats bollocks about the oil cap. I've got an oil cap of a different xe on mine.

You can only guess really, whether it be an early or late type.

Im pretty sure you cant tell the exact year, you can get a rough idea from the engine code 20xe/c20xe and if its got a distributor or DIS.
