Was driving along this morning on the way to a customers house, unfortunately thinking about my day ahead rather than the speed I was doing.

As I approached the top of a hill saw a policeman holding his laser gun towards my direction and another policeman asking me to pull over.
Pulled over and got out to be told I was doing 52mph in a 30 zone, I showed the policeman my licence and he rung the details through, im guessing to make sure the car was insured etc.

When he finished he said to me, "Now ive got a decision to make, 3 points and a £60 fine, or you can go to the magistrates.." he then handed me two leaflets, one on drink driving and one on speeding, and said "I've made my decision, now goodbye" I asked if I was to expect something in the post as im not sure on the process when caught by a laser gun and his reply was "I said ive made my decision and im saying goodbye, if your caught again the conversation might not be the same"

So im assuming i've possibly had a lucky escape here? Definitely has made me concentrate on my speed a lot more and think I drove about 3-5mph under the limits for the rest of the day

Thanks for any replies in advance.

Or he could have been a bit of a funny cunt and you'll get a court summons through in the next couple of days.

He was probably cryptic like that to make you sweat for a couple of weeks. I'd guess that you've got away with it, lucky you.

Thanks for the replies, I hope I have and the majority of people i've asked said I should be okay as no paperwork was filled out at the time, although I don't think that makes a difference.

A plus to come out of this worrying is that I have learnt my lesson and will be watching my speed a lot more!

If it was verbal NIP, then they have 6 months to get the summons out.

the 14 Day system is only on the Cameras when you aren't stopped.

As for the original poster, sounds like you got let off (jammy feck!)
Can't remember the process when i got stopped and a verbal NIP, can't remember if i had to sign anything or not...

It really has made me think, I probably do roughly 150miles a day for business and i've got a clean licence, I rarely do speed due to the thought of the consequences, including losing my job ( I understand worse things can happen but for me personally that sticks at the back of my mind! ).

Cheers guys, you've made me feel a lot better.

Lucky escape - if you were going to be summonsed you would have been reported and cautioned.
