I'd go for the 2.0 dti to be honest, they are pretty bullet proof. The 2.2 dti isn't much quicker to justify getting one of them and the 1.9 would be a money pit for £3k imo.

I'd consider an Astra 2.0DTi.
Same engine. Smaller car. Should be quicker.

Why bother getting an Vectra then? An Astra will be just as comfy imho.

I had a 150bhp 19cdti elite and it was a beast. Until this happened

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

Dont go for the older DTi engine like I have (2.0 / 1.7 / 2.2) they are very slow considering the size of the engine. Spend extra and get the newer tech CDTi's, the 1.9Ti is the best of the engines

2.0 DTI is the worst one of the range - terrible fuel pump issues
2.2 is noisey
try and get a 1.9 in 120 or 150 format

or is it the 2.2
all I know is if you look on the vectra forums there is a particular derv that they use which is terrible
I am sure its the 2.0 DTI

The engine is good but the fuel pumps are mega expensive.
He won't get a 1.9 as said, 2.0 is a good choice.

1.9's have plenty of issues aswell and if you can get one for £3k (i can't be bothered looking) then it will be a nail.

Ive read on Astra Sport the fuel pumps can go but it seems to be on a certain model (of fuel pump, either the Bosch or a different one) and because its all built in together thats where the cost comes from, ive not really looked into it tbh.
Hope fine doesnt fail anytime soon, I would just scrap it and buy another one, Astra 2.0DTis are really cheap now, plenty of old shape Vec's on AT with the engine as well

2.2 dti's are the pish one's like i said above good luck finding a 1.9 cdti for 3k cause they hold there value quite well even at 4k the miles they have down will be thru the roof

i used to have the veccy with the early version of the Dti, god it was a right pain in the arse, hose went in the fuel pump, the part was literally 95p, 2.5hours labour to fit. not impressed. fixed that and then the oil pump decided to not work anymore. so that was that
you have to work them hard to go anywhere though
was fantastic on diesel though!

As long as the pump is working I wouldn't worry about it.
From what I know about them the pump failures aren't age or mileage related, it just happens.
