Hi Guys,

I have just purchased a 106 gti and want to ask some questions to those who have had them or have them, can't be bothered joining a 106 forum.

What's a good suspension setup? It's currently lowered on 40mm springs, might have uprated shocks on the back i think?

Front strut brace?

Also i noticed it has a rear anti roll bar, it's red. These standard or has this been put on?

Thanks

Ive got bilstien shocks and faulkner springs. Really nice handling and quite refined too.

Check out kamracing for the kit

Standard torsion bars are red and yellow so it may just be them you are seeing

Front struts dont make too much of a difference on the top but I have heard the lower ones that sit under the car on the front do. Just ordered one for mine and am awaiting it to arrive

Not a GTI but I have an XSI, front is lowered 60mm and the torsion bar is lowered 2 clicks on the back, on 14'' wheels. Sits perfectly.

Think they are 35mm ish

Would be nice if it sat a little lower but it drives spot on so I am going to leave it alone for the time been.

Did you used to own a corsa? Think I bought a de-badged grille from you for my first motor

how low is your car at the front. my mates was only 50mm and the lower strut brace smashed off everything so be carefull with that mate.

I have a lower strut brace and have no problems, as I say, it's lowered 60mm on the front and I have around 4 inches clearance.

I want to buy a saxo vts or gti

Just want to find one cheap enough

I also know people would call me mad...

Here's a question for you all, how many miles to a tank do you guys typically get in your 106 gti / vts?

My 106 gti would only manage 250-280 driving carefully but it was quite tuned.

Paul, this may not help but I get around 350 to a full tank, maybe more, depends really. It doesn't help when my route to work is a long windey B road with 3 long straights on it.

I just reset the gauge everytime I fill up, see how good/bad I'm doing I usually only put 1 full tank a week in though so it isnt that bad at all.

Danny, was it being driven by me or the new owner? (new owner has white wheels).

aye that's me, that was a crazy session think last year a few of them (green ibiza and black saxo turbo) were just flying up the inside of people in corners (which is not allowed) so generally tried to give them a wide birth.
