I am thinking of buying one already converted into an XE. My question is (obviously assuming engine converted fine) how reliable are they? anything should know about them or watch out for?

they would have been put in a corsa for a reason. so obviously if you buy a cheap one the conversion will have been bodged and/or the engine will have been hammered. if you are going to buy one already done, put a bit more money towards one thats been looked after,.

i payed £1400 for my xe'd corsa. it got a beating everywhere it went and it never let me down. aslon as it had the right parts fitted it should be just as reliable as any other car of its age

The driveshafts which tend to snap are Corsa GSi ones if they are used. If converted well they are very reliable, the engines are almost bullet proof.
When buying one alredy converted I'd check the electrics/wiring carefully, oherwise just give it a good looking over as you would with any other car.

I had welded 1.4 shafts and they never snapped.
My conversion consisted of made up mounts etc and it was very reliable.
