What can you do to a X10XE to get a bit more power out of it? Was planning on buying a 1.4 sport before I realised that insurance was so high even after a year of driving. So just looking to make mine a little nippier. Tuning parts seem to be hard to come by, any suggestions on what I could do to it?

I don't think there is any tuning parts for the 12v engines apart from the Dbilas manifold but that costs almost as much as the car's worth.
Save ya money til you can put a new engine in.

Sell the car, buy a 1.4 sport, will cost less to insure.

As said, there really is no point tuning a 12v. Either way it's still going to have barely any power so the amount of money you have to spend on it to get any extra isn't worth it.

Unless you have deep pockets and maybe fancy getting all sorts of work done and tuboing it

The C20LET mod is quite good for getting more power

Resistor chip and electric turbo are both popular mods and will see a 25-30 bhp increase.

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

£850 sees a Dblias Inlet Manifold giving you 17bhp

Even if you did tune it and it was worth it, it would put your insurance up. Bide your time and get a better car when the insurance isn't so bad.

That's 17bhp on Regal's rollers, actual increase will probably be more like 5bhp

You have to buy a switch for it How dodgy is that? Each time you stop the engine you have to turn the "supercharger" off

Would make more sense to wire it in to the ignition live rather than really bodged straight on to the battery tbh

stuck a k&n panel filter in my brothers 12v, and there is a very slight improvement pulling off but that really is it. Personally I think the fun of the 1.0 is how god damn slow it is, overtakes etc are a challenge. Love driving it though haha
