can running an intercooler that is too big (dont mean fitment) cause any problems??

basically my mate has laid his hands on an Evo 7 intercooler (for buttons) for his starlet but reading on ToyotaTurbo bb they said this can be a bit of overkill.

the intercooler will fit, but is there any drawback of running one that size on such a small car???

Cheers,
Craig

depends how much boost the cars running and where hes placing it. placing the intercooler infront of the rad might give you some overheating problems

The only issue is that for a small engine/turbo combination, the increase in the volume of air that has to be compressed increases. This can cause a lot more "lag".
Engine performance should increase once the thing is actually on boost, due to lower intake temp..
Everything is a compromise. In this case you are trading throttle response for max power.

several things to intercoolers. flow rate, will it actually cool it better, pressure drop. you can't over intercool but you can creat problems by putting a bady designed intercooler on.

the standard one is ontop of the engine is it not. a FMIC would be much better
