just wondering if i could shop my springs instead of buying new ones??? because they only slot in anyway so will it fuck them up or is it ok to do it ??

I did a computer analysis on this ages ago, yes it is fine as long as you do it well and leave no sharp edges for cracks to appear, springs from the factory are very long ones cut to size anyway.

there isnt much to the back corsa b springs anyway there isnt any design to keep them there they jut get squashed inbetween the arm and the body so why cant i cut them ??? has anyone had cut springs before???

thats what i thought its only what a factory does to them, is there any percific way i need to cut them ???

oh no you can't cut the rear ones as the wind gets tighter, just the fronts.

but i cant seem to find some lower than 80mm iv got 80mm on now and i want lower anyone selling any for cheap ???

Heat them up, make them soft, put them in a vice, shrink them then refit.

Should drive LOVELY.

I had cut springs on my GSi. previous owner done it. drove fine but I wouldn't advise it, they fell out every time I jacked the car up, meaning that if you get some air on a back road then bye bye springs lol

You can get coilover kits these days for a smidge over £300, I don't see why you would go to the hassle of cutting springs?

The springs dont seat right once cut though and too much stress is placed on a very small part of the strut. Also if the spring moves with the car jacked up it will fail an MOT and it woudl also be considered un-road worthy.

mine fell out when it was jacked up. car was very very bouncy too. Seriously mate don't do it, not worth it when you can get custom springs cheap these days.
