They can get messed up and auto level at the wrong level.
If somebody adjusts them with the screws on the headlights without setting the computer up it'll also auto level incorrectly.

Think so, saw another 5 series and it looked like that. Couldn't tell what was on as it was so bright though. So I moved into the middle lane, pulled back out behind him and held my main beam on He then moved over so I put my foot down so I could drive on with my eyes intact

they may have just been his xenons.
mine are the same. were way too high up as standard and people kept flashing me, but when i lowered it they pointed down too much so had them manually adjusted using a screw under the bonnet.
now they are the correct height and people still move over and flash me. idiots.

On most cars the main beam is still a standard halogen bulb as HID bulbs dont last very long if they are used in short bursts.

That's why most cars use some sort of shutter arrangement instead of flashing a xenon.

I think you wil find most are bixexon now and its a beam deflector which allows full beam of light thus not requiring two sets of bulbs

That might be case in the last couple of years but most cars if not just about all built after 1998 (with the exception of very recent models) with HID's have got a halogen setup for main beams.
I didnt say all cars.. I said most cars.
