Depends on how they were converted. If a old engine was bodged straight in, then chances are it wont be, but sometimes it can be just as realiable as one thats been fully rebuilt and put together with care.

i agree with Chrisboom all depends whos done the engine install if your thinking about buyin one i would say buy one with a professional install of the engine with the paper work for proof

mine has done 10000 miles since i converted it and has let me down once which was the fuel pump relay (my fault as i knew it was shit and needed replacing).
i used to use it everyday for an 80 mile round trip for work and it was fine. so yes they are reliable if you spend your time converting it properly

why dont you take your engine out and keep your shell if its mint? If the x16 is ok then you should make a fair bit of money back for the whole turbo lot, and then you can put the engine in for yourself so you know how well its done.

stoners is 400bhp and gets hammered everywhere, he kills the turbo but there only £150 a time so he doesnt care. but yeah its reliable, but does have all the proper parts, i.e rods, pistons, dual springs, steel caps, solid lifters, etc etc
a phase 2 let will be very reliable, im going to be building a stock powered LET corsa over winter i think!

Engine in mine was very good and reliable, never once missed a beat but the drivetrain is what took a hammering. It needed pollybushing tbh but I lost all interest in it before doing it and sold it. It began to get on my nurves
