Right, need a new set of hoops for the bike, As the fanny who had it before me has made the rear tyre square and its only worn in the centre.

Currently its on Dunlop sportmax (i think) which dont feel like they grip half the time,

The shortlist i have at the minute are

  • Bridgestone BT021r
  • Pirelli Diablo Corsas
  • Michelin pilots

The sizes are
Front = 120/70zr17
Rear = 180/55zr17

Also has anyone used Continenatals, Avons and Metzelers and if so what are they like.

Got upto £200 to spend on them

Also if anyone has any other preferences, Please feel free to let me know!

Pirelli diablo corsas are the best tyre you will put on a bike. The dual compound ones give amazing grip, very predictable on the limit and they last well too. I rate them above anything else, and when i ran the dealership in lincoln 9 out of 10 sports bikes riders had them fitted...

Contis are shit, feel like they are made of cheese.

i have the diablo strada which are more of a touring tyre and the dual compound is great, tyres work really well when out in the rain as they heat up so quickly... probably not so good if you are on an enthusatic ride....

Agree with Kano - 2Ct's for me also on the road, best balance of wear and superb performance.
Although I have used Avon's which were very good, but wore out VERY VERY quickly (under 2k miles) and Metzeler Racetec's on my other road/track bike which are good, heat up quickly and are very stable at decent lean.
My old CBR-RR had Diablo's on it from the factory which are also a decent tyre.... although power slides in the wet were far too common.

Had the pirellis reccomended from a mate at work, But the bloke i took the bike to said he reccomends the michelins, also the instructer i had reccomended the bridgestones as they didn't wear out as quick.

Been swaying towards the Michelins just going to weigh the cost up of them all

i just put some bridgestone bt 016's on mine recently

there really grippy soft compound tyres...

best tyres ive had!

The bridgestones bt021's were fitted when i bought the bike but i wanted more grip

if you ride in the wet id not go for the bridgestones though!

i cant fault bridgestones to be honest, never have any problems, including dry track days and a very slick donnington

Pirelli's are also worth the money, only two i'd go for tbh

ive heard the pirelli's are suposed to be alot better in the wet and longer lasting then the bridgestones,

but each to there own....

your looking at about £200 for a pair of new bt016's

front will do a few miles, rears last 2.5-5k depending
