Hi all,
I just signed up after picking up my first Corsa... ever. My name is Mike, i'm 31 and from sunny Brighton. Basically my partner bought a 2005 Corsa a few months ago, and after I drove it I sold my car and bought one last week. Very well looked after too, only standard as i'm a bit old now and my modded days are pretty much over (even if I did work on many car clubs). And it's automatic too (health issues forced me to go down the automatic route).
Anyway, the car I bought is a W reg 2000 registered 1.2 16v. And as it's done 53k, my good mechanic friend wants to change the head gasket as there are traces of oil/water mixing - but only minimal at the moment, so best change it before anything else happens.
What I wish to know is, are there any known issues that we need to be aware of when changing the head or the head gasket? or is it just a straight top off and swap over etc.
Great informative forums, look forward to reading through some projects and builds threads.
Best,
Mike.

Thanks
Will take that onboard, I skimmed most of my car's heads once removed anyway just in case. Oh and the cambelt, it hasn't got one...aparently its got a chain which will probably get a check too

Zip tie the chain to the cam pulley, release the tensioner then remove the cam pulley and secure it with zip ties again so the chain is taught..
Then remove the head
