Being given a pay rise at work and they're taking away the company car (1.6 diesel 09 Focus Style) so got too start car hunting.
Currently got about 3k saved and unsure on wether to get a car for around 2.3k and put some aside for insurance or spend 3k on a car then just pay the insurance off monthly with the pay rise.
Only 19 with 1 years no claims ( as ive been driving a company car ) so need something which wont empty my wallet on insurance.
Been looking at a Corsa C 1.2 Sxi as that seems the obvious choice, possibly a 1.4 version but could do with some ideas on other cars to look at, and also your opinions of getting a car on finance as well
Cheers.

How many miles do you do to work and back, would you benefit from a diesel more?

Oh sorry forgot that part, the most important part! Will be doing about 70 miles a day but the majority of them are motorway miles.

If I were you i'd get something for about 6k (half value on finance) less than 3yrs old. That way it will still be newish and not need anything for a good while & you benifit from a newer car for not much coin per month!!

Think that's probably the best option.
What is usually the better option getting a 3k loan or going on a finance option?

What evers offers the best rate.
Also make sure theres no charges for overpayments or settling early.
Take 3k over 3yrs you'll hardly notice your paying it.

Getting a loan to pay off a car is horrible, done it twice now, thought I would of learnt the first time! Cannot recommend it. Bought myself a Clio 182, I know it's not something you're after but within a year it needed £1000 spent on it in terms off service and cambelt/aux changing, money pit! Also had more general problems with that than I did my 1990 Honda lol.
I think your original choice of a Corsa would be good, 1.4 will give you a little extra power to put your foot down on the motorway in case you need it.
