Wouldn't it cause damage to the chassis, it proper yanks on the straps when he launches?

I'd imagine they're going to be on pretty solid parts of the car. It doesn't look like too much strain's being put on them tbh.

I was under the impression that its to stop wheel spin, which you can hear in the videos.

It's just a more general question, like how can silly bhp cars stay on the rollers with 2-3 straps yet some can't?
Is it just down to te roller set up?

Its all to do with how well the car is strapped down! And if the person doing it, knows what they are doing!
My Astra F came out the rollers at Regal (at there old old place) and my friends Astra G come right out at Engine advantages and started wheel spinning on the floor!

not always. there are factors involving the rolling road itself mostly. not "if the person doing it, knows what they are doing" as thats a load of rubbish. generally speaking, the smaller diameter of rollers, the more likely it will spin out. doesnt matter if its strapped down with 8 straps and the person has been doing it for a decade.
