I'd had some issues with the VXR over the last few weeks. Firstly a hole appeared in the manifold which I managed to get sorted on warrenty at my local Vauxhal Dealers. They fitted a new manifold AND turbo because they both come combined! Then after that was sorted it still wasn't right and seemed to be blowing from somewhere so I took it to MPG in Middlewich for Ian to look at. They have done all the work on my car and I trust them completley unlike Vauxhall Dealerships! Anyway, he discovered that the spanner monkeys had managed to split the boost pipe whlst fitting the turbo!!
So......Ian sorted that for me , then it was dyno'd on MPG's new rolling road. It was at this point that it became clear that the Vauxhall Dealership had also managed to wipe my EDS Stage 2 map too!!! (The car still ran 260bhp with no map and just the JP exhaust).
So....my map was flashed back on and it was dyno'd again...... it produced 280.8bhp and 367.8lbft torque!! I was very pleased with that as you can imagine!
The car goes better than it ever did, which is probably due to the nice new turbo!
And ignore the NM on the scale for torque. It actually reads in lbft.

Its huge torque. I was really suprised. Torque peaks at 3500rpm. When you drive it, you know it does too!

my Gsi had much more torque than bhp, was an odd driving experience, huge shove when throttle applied but then felt like it ran out of power at 6k

Map is turned on/off with Sport button. As I had a new turbo in that needed running in and as it was still blowing from the split boost pipe I was taking it easy and not using map at all, so never turned it on to find out it had gone!

Really happy its sorted. I was getting pretty hacked off with it tbh. Which probably explains why I was taking the bait in Sportday a bit too much!!!!

The best thing is that the dealership allowed a new manifold & turbo on warrenty, even though I was running Stage 2 etc!!!

Christ the power readings are like a mapped turbo diesel. MASSIVE torque.

if you do a quick calc on your peak torque (if it was what you thought is was) you should have had 240bhp at 3500rpm

Its not......the graphs are carrying the wrong measurement. Its lbft as it says on the top of the sheet. The rolling road was originally giving readings in NM torque figures but its not any more its lbft. There were loads of astra vxrs run on it a few weeks back when it was reading in NM and they were getting figures of over mid 400's. For instance a Stage 2 car like mine ran 465NM which is 342lbft. Not far off my figure. My car was running 280lbft with no map on, a reading taken on a completley different rolling road. So mapped its going to be considerably higher. I agree its a big figure though.
