for any one whos interested it made 183.2bhp and... 316ft/lbs of torque, thats a huge gain over the standard 235ft/lbs, he did have it at 189bhp and 316ft/lbs but we agreed it smoked a bit too much, Oggy said it was a very strong engine, and asked has it had a hard life, to which I said yes but its very well looked after, and he replied with "thats the best way to treat them"
hes mapped it so it makes peak power at about 3500rpm so the kick feels only bit harder than before but it pulls harder for much longer, its unbelievably smooth, gets to 100mph far too quickly span up in 3rd too before
it took a while to decide but Im glad ive had it done, even the G/F approves
Il stick the graphs up later as im only on the laptop

Seriously tempted to get my Golf tdi done. Promises an extra 40bhp and 80ft/lbs at 2500, perfect for overtaking.
Only problem is that my insurance have declined to insure me with a remap and all the quotes I'm getting are silly - need to work out whether the extra power is really worth all the extra cost!

The thought crossed my mind too but I'm not keen. Even the people doing the map told me a lot of their customers don't declare, which is a bit risky for them to be saying over email

yeah thats the chance you take Andy, Im willing to do it, others arnt, the chance you take I suppose
I think it had a bit more in it Ben, too smokey though
I didnt ask but I wonder if someone on here can tell me why it has made a silly high torque figure but a (comparably) low power figure
for example, a car on FiatForum has 195bhp and 270 ft/lbs, any boffins wanna tell me why that is and what (if anything) it means

dodgy rollers?
air/fan temperature when being run?
all engines are a little bit different as they haven't been driven at the same speed, same rpm, same gear change at the same time.

Half my problem is that I wrote off my old Corsa pulling out of junction rendering the car undriveable so in that instance I wouldn't have been able to remove the map before the insurance people got to it
Never thought I would make such a stupid mistake but now kind of preys on my mind that could happen again

Ive declared my lowring springs for that very reason, with the map however I know its going to cost a bomb to add on and there is a chance they wont think to look / wont be bothered to look or not be able to detect it, Im not gonna worry my self over what "could" be though

i dont ever see an insurance company going to the hassle of getting your ecu plugged in and checked for what setting it has stored on it its not like they can put it on an rr if you stuff it

It means yours is better. Smoother, more useable power (ie the other map will more harsh, more hit and miss sort of power, as in it will make more power, but in a short rev band). I think you did the best thing tbh

he asked me what sort of power I wanted, did I want a kick of power or a smooth curve, I went for smooth
the "kick" map looked like it ran out of puff at 2500 whick is about 80 in 6th, no good for motorway over taking
think flys from 80 - 100 takes about 3 and a half secs

how much boost are you running? thats good results, you do get some good ones, my 2ltr tdi jetta for example makes 365lbft of torque, thats loads more than the average map, but then its my car so i pushed it a little bit more!

316 is decent! thats around about what my astra has with the box on it.. Same as your description aswll, very smooth power. Easiest way to describe it is it revs more like a petrol if yours has the same feeling.

Fuck me 316lbft
That's double mine!
I imagine I'll deffinately be left for dead now
saying that my eml is on again, should really take the decat back off
I need to decide what I wanna do with mine, hit 10k miles earlier.. I've been looking at vxr's today
that extra power and torque should help at Combe though
