Does a heatgun work on arches and bumpers to make them black? Do they need to be off the car?
What do I need to lower my car?
Cheers

use vegetable oil to get the arches black, dont use too much and try not to get it on your paintwork.
Lowering you need a lowering kit and get it kitted by a garage.

I use is as its cheap and works. Dont go mad else when it rains it runs onto the painted parts then attracts dirt and if left unwashed it can be a bugger to get off. id say on a dry day put some on, leave it to soak in and then wash the car down with shampoo/soap then re apply very small coat and buff off the excess.

Yes it is only for use on the rough black plastic areas, apply it to a small area so you can see what it does. It lasts alot longer than BacktoBlack stuff.

Heatgun is the best soloution

The reason they go grey is because of the dirt thats stuck to them.

Putting back to black, veg oil or any other kind of substance will mean they go grey again very quickly

The heatgun removes all the dirt and brings them back to as new condition.

To lower your car you need

18mm spanner
17mm Spanner
19mm Spanner
13mm socket and ratchet (deep)
19mm socket (deep)
1 Trolley jack
2 Axle stands

i did the heat gun trick on my corsa, an i was worried about the paint work but, it changes the plastic back to black so quickly the paint doesnt even get hot. And i didnt need to back to black it again for a good 8 months, an the only reason i did put extra back to black on was because i was selling it. other wise i would of left it.

Its really hard to knacker your paint with it, just dont keep it in one place for more than a couple of seconds and dont touck anything with it, it is relly easy to do, I was worried at first.

best thing to use to make the bumpers and arches look black is matt black paint. i used it on mine and im really happy with it, check my pic out
i got it for £2 a can from the market...2 cans of grey primer and 2 cans of matt black...so a total of £8!!!

Matt black doesnt look as good as proper blacked bumpers.

When you use a heat gun it basically melts the plastic slightly and brings all the oils trapped under the surface to the top again giving it that brand new appearance. The reason they turn grey is because the sun bakes the surface and dries the plastic out and bakes in dirt so putting oil on only masks the problem without rectifying it.

Plus a heat gun will melt a hole in your bumper before it affects the paint... ever touched a black cars bonnet on a baking hot day? its hot enough to cook an egg on so dont worry too much about paint damage. be careful around head and tail lights though as they can melt if you hold the heat gun in place for too long.

backs easy to do, for the fronts though, you need to take the wings off, so you need a good 2-3 hours to do it.
it's worth the effort though imo
