"Excessive speed", 31mph in a 30 zone. Ridiculous.

Forgot to mention that it was 31mph on the speedo, so more then likely 27-29ish.

Surely they have something better to do than pull people for no reason what so ever?

Don't officers have a radio that can be used to check all the necessary legal information required to be on the road?

Yes Mike B, he hasn't done me for it. 100% bullshit excuse.

He said I was doing "around 40mph" as "i had to do 50mph to catch up with you".

No, the reason you had to do "50mph" is because you was 1/4 mile behind me.

If I was speeding he would have gave me a ticket there and then.

He took my details and height (?), checked them, asked how long I'd had my license and insurance, asked me to sign a form (Rec0rd of Stop and Search) and said on your way.

Was that directed towards me Ian? If so, I was just having a rant, not wondering what I'll receive, fine/points, etc.

I wouldn't worry about it mate, he obviously felt he needed an excuse to pull you, most that I've come across don't bother with an excuse they just say it's a spot check or documents check

They will give any excuse just to pull you over and check. Basically a random stop check (usually with a lame excuse). I had one pull me over as i had indicated too late for a junction and they checked me and my car through the system. One good way to look at it is they are more likely to catch out the people who drive with no insurance etc etc

not anymore, under new laws brought in under the 2006 terroist act you may be stopped by a police man for no reason hence why they go mad now

also vosa have just been given the power to stop vehicles without needing plod there aswell if they think your vehicle may have defects

beware

you say the vosa can pull you over but they dont have blue lights on their vehicles only yellow which in my eyes im not going to stop tbh. They cant just decide that without telling the public via common advertisement ie Tv etc. Yellow lights to me means break down vehicle, green is emergency doctors and blue is emergency vehicles. Dont know if any one shares my veiw on it but thats my 10 pence anyway

the EXACT same happened to me was in at 30 going past a junction perhaps doing around 35 as it was downhill, police come out of the junction way behind me. Pull me over further down the road trying to say i was doing 60 mph as that what speed they were doing to catch up with me I said no that's because you were behind me about 600 yards.

They were looking over my insurance policy like it was their Granny's will, to see if it had anything about no modifications allowed . Took pictures of my car and everything and fined me for an illegal plate,

The thing that gets on my tits theres a lad around my area who everyone knows for driving like an absolute twat putting everonye in danger including my mother the other day and i bet he would get off scott free.......... The police are a bunch bastards

Reason to stop is because youre driving a car on a road, thats reason enough.

for the PNC, if youre recorded will probably have all usual details as well as height, build, eye colour, jewellery, marks/scars, tattoos etc....just that extra way of distinguishing people
