but how do u do it lol?

Grind or sand the lettering off, Bit of filler over the top, Sand it down. Primer then paint it.

If the letters are punched outwards you may need some fibre glass on the underneath for the filler to bond to.

metal one's - sand
plastic with raised letters, woud need fibreglassing like terry said
or do the easy thing and get one thats smooth as standard, like i've got
