No, the problem is that you've bought a stolen car on false plates.

You can't scrap it, it doesn't belong to you. If the original owner has been paid out then the insurance company will come and take it off you and give you nothing.

I can't believe you're being so OK about buying a stolen car. The girl before you is obviously just as careless.

Has nobody paid attention to common sense and what Ian has said.

If it's a ringer it's not his property to scrap.

you don't know that for sure. The Vin number on the log book matches the reg of the car, the vin number all over the car matches that of an N reg Punto of identical spec. They were sold from the same dealership. It looks like the mixup was made when the cars were prepped for sale. Kurt has kindly sent me the Sigi report he ran so i can present it to the DVLA if need be.

We phoned the DVLA, they offered us to either come for a VIC check or have the car scrapped and it wouldn't be persued.

The girl before me bought it from a close friend of the family who has his own garage. You can forgive her for not going over the car with a fine tooth comb before buying it cant you .

I bought it for a measley £100 from a friend who will give me the money back if it it's dodgy, and i have had the DVLA tell me it is fine to scrap. Yes i am perfectly OK with what i have done. You have jumped to the conclusion that the car IS stolen without even asking what came back from Kurt good old CS.

But the Punto in the pic is a P Reg? im confused here, of course its going to match a similar car, isnt that the point of cloning it in the first place?

P & N reg are both 1996. Just registered at diff dates mate.

It would look like a ringer if they weren't sold at the same dealership at the same time. The only difference between the 2 cars is 2 months warranty.

It looks my car was registered with the wrong plates from new 13yrs on the road with the wrong reg.
