what would you go for?

40 mile commute a day so wanting reliabilty but still want a bit of fun at the weekends etc.

not to bothered about track action, have a motorbike for that..

what would you choose?

I'd imagine the Civic would be more reliable, but you're not giving much info Lee For all we know the Civic could be on 200k and the VTS on 20!

I wouldn't like to buy anything with 100k miles, but if thats all thats in your price range then fair enough.
I'd imagine the Honda will still be far more reliable.

my mates 106 gti was on 75k and it was just shite, every bush needed changed, suspension was knackered. only good thing was the engine but he kept on top of every little problem as and when it happened, unless you do that you will have a crap car within a matter of months.

Civic would be more reliable than the saxo, Few mates have had civics one with over 200K still going strong till this day, there pretty much bomb proof so i wouldnt let that put you off

My honda (accord) had just rolled over 100K miles, and it still runs sweet as a nut. No problems at all *touch wood* but i'm hoping to get rid shortly.
I'd never buy anything with 100k simply because by the time you're finished with it, it'll probably be up at 120-130k and probably a pain in the arse to sell on.

Standard vs standard, I'd go with tec. But it'll be cheaper to make the VTS quicker if you decided you wanted more oomph!

VTS will shrink in rain too, so maybe sit in it to make sure you will have enough headroom pre-shrinkage

Ecks right, the vts would be cheaper to run but civics seem to be holding there price really well so when it comes time to sell on it may be better.
