i've just bought myself a C20XE

currently i've got a X16XE, with inlet manifold, janspeed 4-2-1 and janspeed cat back, K&N panel drilled airbox, 10mm HT leads

I was behind my mate yesterday in his C20XE. He couldn't really pull away from me at all and it isn't the sort of performance increase I was looking for.

Is his C20XE probably not running right or are they really just not that much quicker?

I hope its the former!

In all honesty, his must be waaaaaay down on power as he should have easily pulled away up til 90, then you'd be easier giving up after that.

It most certainly is mate. Pete_vxl from here had those mods with a decat, and had it rr'd at 129bhp. On a short blat my XSi 16v gained embarassingly easily on that, and my XSi was on par with XE's.

The other bonus is, if it's a good example, you will get better mpg And it's soooo much smoother to drive. Overtaking can be done in 4th or 5th on a wave of torque

Didn't take it up the strip so no real idea tbh mate But I'm assuming it was making standard power (about 120bhp) and it was completely stripped out (no interior, cd player speakers etc) so should have at least 150-160bhp/tonne. My assumption is based on a wee blat against an XE from around my way and he couldn't get away at all, even though it is easier to be behind someone when racing I sincerely doubt he would have gained on me if I was in front either

Should get some twin 40/45's for about £300 and a manifold and other necessities would make up the other £200!

His XE mustn't be running right!
We did a conversion to my mates car but then he was gutted as mine just pulled away from his

Best mods for an XE would be exhuast manifold + carbs!

I have a manifold for sale......

before my old x16xe died it went well and i was really pleased with it
vxperformance inlet
raceland 4-2-1 manifold
sportex decat
ashley cat back system
10mm leads
K&N panel drilled airbox

and i raced a blue clio sport 172 which had 4 in his car and i had two in mine and i could stay on his bumper until 105mph he was pulling away then. i had an advantage with the drag aswel though.
