Thinking about pricing up things for the tigra, what would you guys go for?
Ive never had a big block before but i know il want more power in a year or so.
XE is tempting as its a cheaper conversion, LET is massive power but darn expensive, V6 is different, but a cunt to work on, although its certainly different and will give a lot of torque
At rough guess id be looking at £400 for a XE conversion, £1500 for a LET and about £300 for a V6
Opinions?

Love the sound of a V6 but I'd probably go for the Redtop.

all 3 of those conversions are too cheap for what you've put up.
to do an LET properly will be about £2k, as id want to put a 6spd in, equal shafts etc(properly to be is actually a full engine rebuild, but for this im going off finding/hearing a runner before you buy)
and from half the peoples experiances you cant trust the engine doesnt go pop within a month or so!
but if want something cheap then xe

V6 certainly seems to be the way to go, I plan to start collecting the bits asap.
The one thing im worried about is space to do anything, tigra will be even tighter then a corsa.
I already know of a 2.5 Vectra V6 (GSI engine so it has the cams and stuff), with a F28 box going cheap, but its having somwhere to store it, and i belive the big inlet may cause problems?

ive had both xe and let. if youve never driven a tigra with a big block go for an xe . let is more of a handful if your not used to it. mine was running a f20 and i had no problems at all. make sure you get a good engine to start with, most problems people have are down to buying crap engines and not fitting them properly.

I'd get a V6 personally. LET is a hell of a lot more expensive, and you'd have more power and torque than the XE. Plus an immense noise.

I did say the prices are rough. I based the XE on a complete engine/gearbox for £200, £100 on mounts and whatever else, and then a £100 for any other things i need lol
Conversion would be done myself, carried out enough smallblock conversions to know my way around vauxhalls too.

v6 would be nice. no faster than an xe really though. less parts to tune them. turbo is the all out win for performance even on a std engine.

Ive driven them all and owned the V6. It depends what you want from the car really:
For a road car the V6 is perfect, smooth and torquey its a pleasure to drive at speed and in town.
For a track car the XE is your best bet. lightest of the bunch and being revvy is suited for track use.
LET just for outright power, not much good on road or track but a hoot to drive and more of a drag car if anything.
My V6 was a 2.5 from a calibra, it had MSD 'G' profile cams, bored out throttle body, stainless exhaust, 3.8 bar fpr and a chip from germany that upped the rev limiter along with other things. Was 210bhp with even more torque. 150+ mph capabilities yet it was still reliable and the noise it made was nothing short of evil.
My advice is get the V6 in, 3.0 would be a better bet than 2.5 but with a few mods you can get the 2.5 faster than the 3,0 anyway. As for inlets you need the calibra inlet. the vectra one wont fit. Get the V6 in mate you wont regret it... i regret selling my V6 corsa to this day.

Luke how much do you think it'd cost all in to get a V6 into a Corsa?

You could do it on a shoestring budget for about £500 but if i was building it id spend a bit more on ancillaries. 3.0 or MSD cams are a must though, they free up loads of power straight away.
Engine: £200
Mounts: £100
shafts: £100
Ancillaries: 100
While its out id put a cambelt kit and fresh set of iridium spark plugs in it for peace of mind.

I aint going to be worried about loads of power lol, remember im used to 100bhp of pure standard engine lol
Reckon the torque steer would be too much through standard shafts then?
Il have to ask about the engine but i think i can get it for £150 complete with the gearbox, ecu, loom and imobliser stuff.
