right first off bought a new motor its tested but not taxed, i need to get it home so was thinking i could get insurance for a day with one of those companies then tax it with there cover note ( do they provide one?) to get it home? if i dont get it taxed what happens if i get caught driving it home with only test and insurance?? other question is i will now be selling my corsa so a rough guess on what its worth spec is

s reg arden blue sport

1.4 on logbook now fitted with a 1.6 from r reg corsa that had 70k on, engine had cambelt, water pump, full service when fitted and is excellent runner

shell has 140k on but clocks say 72k as i took these from the 1.6 donor so it matched engine i have done 2k since fitting an dit was fitted as the cambelt snapped on old 1.4 and it was cheaper to buy the 1.6 sport as a whole car and fit engine rather than buy a 1.4,

car also has brand new decat pipe fitted around 500 miles and irmscher twin backbox also,

has bilstien dampers and 40mm gmax springs fitted very good condition

also 256mm calipers with reddot grooved discs and reddot brake pads done around 1000miles

bodywork is standard bar debadged grill and rubbing strips removed,

interior has two omp bucket seats in black and 3 point harnesses in blue, rear seats removed and lightweight false floor added and rear strut brace also, has cd player also.

there is no history with the car apart from the reciepts i have which is cambelt, service engine fitting etc

also car has powersteering, electric windows and mirrors did have aircon but this has been removed as it didnt work and wanted to save the weight,

standard sport wheels all good tyres

tax till end of september

mot till april 2010

cheers

Corsa is worth about 300 quid, you can't tax a car with a day insure policy.

as some people want it this way and lets face it unless you strip down the block to compare bores and piston sizes you wouldnt no its not the 1.4, no point me sending it off when its going anyway and tbh the 1.6 was only dropped in as i came across the car cheap, i'm sure there is plenty of people running c20xe and lets on whats probably still regd as a 1.0, and i was asking for peoples opinions on the value of a car not your personal opinion of me being an idiot

I think insurance would be void without tax anyway?

When i insured a car for a day it said it could be taxed with the day insurance certificate i printed out, but it was up to the persons discretion at either the post office/tax place etc.

And you will get around 800-900 for it, 300 is the lowest of low market values.

It's void when you crash it while driving it untaxed, if someone has a car sitting over winter it's either taxed or sorned.

That isnt what I'm getting at. If Johnny public has a 1.0 but he puts a 2.5v6 in it as he wants a faster car, but he can't afford the insurance on a 2.5 so he continues to insure it as a 1.0 and doesn't change it on the log book then that is illegal.

Unfortunately, a car with an engine conversion is so much easier to sell on if the engine is not declared.
