Hey
I was giving my buggy an oil change/gearbox oil change and was tightening the gearbox sump bolt and it just started turning and i could pull it out with my fingers
What can i do? Does it need regrooving somehow?
Thanks

Can you not get another sump?
Obviously it will need to come off so will either need a new thread cutting in and a bigger sump bolt fitted, will probably cost you about £20 at an engineering place.
Best option would be for a new sump though.

You might be able to tap a new thread in yourself if you can buy the tool.

I've heard about that chemical metal sounds, interesting. The problem is that it's all built into the gearbox so a new sump is not an option unfortunately.
It's made of a cast metal

I bet you didnt use a new crush washer!
You need to find someone who can helicoil it, you will also need to flush it out to get rid of all of the debris.

No I didn't use a new crush washer I thought that might be partly to blame. I've flushed it a few times with oil and a couple of bits of thread have come out.u reckon that is gonna good enough?
Going to try and find some1 to helicoil it, otherwise
bloke at work said he could get a tap bolt and put some thing on it that makes it rethread I wil post the name of what it's called later lol

Get it helicoiled, only safe way mate.. And in future ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS use a new crush washer.
