Not so much a missfire but its the best way i can describe it, basically when accelerating for example moving away from a set of lights its misses like a twat but not so much a missfire its like its overfueling really bad the more you put your foot down when it does it it goes away, under hard acceleration it doesnt do it but when pulling away it does or for example sitting at 70 on motorway and put your foot down a bit to increase speed to say 80 itll judder and miss as if its throwing too much fuel in. im thinking maybe mass air flow sensor?

any help is much appreciated

Try having a look in the spark plug wells for oil.

On my old XE it happened because the rocker cover wasnt secured down well enough, also check the ht leads and give the king lead a clean it sorted it on mine

Do you have a cone filter on it?

Mine does the same when first started and gives a fuel smell. Once warm it then idles at 1,250rpm.
I've tried everything except the cone filter.
I know the XE never liked cone filters so will be putting my airbox on.

take the plastic injector loom off be careful not 2 loose the clips then where the throttle cable has a mount infront of the throttle body theres 2 10mm bolts on the throttle cable bracked take that off then at either end of the rail there is another 2 10mm bolts with earths on them, after there ooff just pull it up keep a cloth handy coz there will be a bit of petrol drippage!! then check the little rubber o rings on the injectors thenselves
