Alright guys! Ive currently got a 1.8 SRi Corsa C, which is rather nice
Anyhow, me and a mate at work are picking up a non running Corsa B (1.0 12v) tomorrow to use as a strip car.
Its S reg, has the prefacelift front end on though due to an accident, its just a basic model as far as im aware, 36,000 miles. Everything seems spot on apart from obviously the engine (head gasket has gone btw)
Only paying £150 for it aswell which im quite chuffed about
We are unsure about what conversion to go for.
At first it was going to be the C20LET but none of us really expected the engines to be the price that they are still.
So we thought either C20XE or X16XE (the 1.6 gsi one?)
If we went for the redtop we would be group B (drag racing) which is 1800 - 2000 cc. Which would be a pretty competitive category to be in
Whereas if we went for the 1600 we would be in 1799 or less category.
And i reckon that a Corsa with a 1.6 motor in, track prepped would piss all over the likes of Vtrs etc etc . . .
I think im ranting on abit here . . .Just after some advice off the experts really, cos im a Corsa C man lol . . . .
Appreciated, Mike!

They did use X16XE's in later GSi's, the C16XE found in early ones is generaly considered to be better to tune seeing as it has been restricted from the factory because of being designed by Lotus and putting out more than the 1.8 of the time pre-restriction.
You can get the 1.6 to 200bhp with major work, or get a C20XE to 300ish also with major work.

So many decisions, i just cant wait to get the engine out of it tomorrow! Will start a progress thread up for sure
got some nice 308mm discs to go on it, will be taking them off my C and putting them on this!
I suppose the 1.6 will be an easier option, wont have to fook about with custom hubs n shizzle!
Ive not read into it a great deal, i get bored of reading too much lol!

Yeah the 1.6 would probably be an easier job to put in, although I do have a feeling the 12v's use different mounting points or something, I can't remember
You're gonna need to get some reading done to do this though mate, engines don't put themselves in and you don't want it to go wrong half way up the strip, so you wanna make a good job of it

you'll need different mounts and the wiring takes a bit of working out unless you can get a gsi/sport dash loom but thats it
