I think the only sort of experience I have had was when I was in a friends old 106 GTI. We pulled past the CTR but the GTI had had a bit of money thrown at it so to be expected really

ive been in gtis and wouldnt rate them as fast as this by no means, like i say i was very impressed, nearly even put the golf up for a swap on ph, but them remembered it should be as fast after a remap anyway

Yeah it wasn't standard.
I guess I wouldn't mind a shot in a CTR if I got chance, see what its all about. Seem good value for money if they are as good as people say.
Just lack of torque concerns me as that is what I love about my car

ex gf had one, was a great driving position but had to kick its ass to make it go
alot of the comments about i beat one yadda yadda is probably because the type r is tooteling along then something goes past and they have to get the revs up to go catch it

You sure your nova was 170bhp? Even a complete mongtard would be able to get off the line MUCH MUCH quicker than a standard CTR with an 170bhp Nova which would equate to atleast 200bhp/tonne.

too much torque steer and wheel spin to really do any thing, had an rr print out of 178 bhp for it. carbs needed setting up again so maybe less, was fast but i thought that civic was faster

my mates corsa xe used to drill vx220s and sit on arse of mates gt4 st205 easy.
type r probably feels quicker as it might as well have a HUUUUUGE flat spot before the vtec kicks in, then actually goes they just rely on revs and not torque...all phycological!
a local lads 106 gti used to drill CTR's too, pugs are very quick for tin cns!

I think the Type-R is a great all round package. I had an insurance quote come back on one as £1000 though which is ridiculous.
I'm 27 with 6 years NCD no points and 1 claim for theft of vehicle nearly three years ago. It was only £100 more to insure a 911.

Random question
You know cos they have less torque, do they not spin up as easily in wet/slippery conditions?

Plus the civic was the worst car I even had to get off the line. Either bogged down or wheel hopped like crazy and went no where.
If your in the power band they spin up just as easy as any other car. Plus they arnt renowned for their wet grip
