Been to look at a 52 plate corsa sxi 1.2 and the looks really nice and straight with only a couple little marks on it but when i took the oil cap off to check it there was a very light yellow residue on the cap.
I know from experience on my B that it could possibly be head gasket but when i pointed it out to the dealer he says its just condensation off pulling the cars in & out every night.
The car has had 2 previous owners and is original condition with 69k on the clock and got him down from £2795 to £2600 with 12months MOT & fully serviced and has 1 1/2 months tax left on it.
what do you think?

Still overpriced imo.
The light residue can happen on any car which isn't getting proper runs, if its just short distances you will get a build up, good long drive usually clears it

That's a good price from a dealer.
You won't buy it though.

Thats a good price from a dealer in my opinion, vaux would try and charge you 3-4k for that lol.
Will they give you a warranty of some kind?
Was invaluable having a warranty on mine when the ECU packed up.

Why not?
You are doing it Colin style, getting a 1.6 conversion one day, a redtop the next, a new car the next, back to a 1.6, etc etc ad infinitum.

id be wanting a faclift one for that money but if its from a dealer it isnt a bad price....
as said the yellow/white residue can happen easily from short runs. why not wipe the cap and then take the car for a test drive?
see if you can get a full tank of fuel thrown in aswell to secure the deal

Yellow residue sounds normal, especially for short journeys in and out of a garage.
This was mine in the winter when the weather was cold & damp, and the head gasket is fine!

lmao at the people in here giving prices for Corsa C's when any B that gets posted is worth at least 1800 quid.
It's a good dealer price.

Wipe the cap off then take it for a good test drive then once it's warmed up give it some. If it doesn't come back then job's a goodun. Then if he can afford that then go with it imo. See if you can get petrol thrown in too like Sam said

Over priced for a 70k car!! Corsa Cs are still holding value quite well though.
I've pay no more than 2k for it.

its is very clean compared to other newer cars we have looked at.
going for a test drive tomorrow and will wipe the cap before we go out in it then will double check it again when we get back.
exhaust was blowing slightly and they said they will fit a new center silencer and back box for us.

The cap isn't anything to worry about unless the headgasket has just gone. Look at mine above, that was in the winter and was just condensation.
