What sort of vehicle would you need to tow a full on car trailer with a 1.2 ton car on? whats kinda the minimum requirements power wise etc?

Van? Small van? 4x4?

do you need any extra license requirements?

1200kg car

Perhaps 600kg trailer

So you need one with a towing weight of 1800kg or more and a B+E licence as the weight of the train will probably exceed 3.5t

As a guide a Vectra is around 1600 and my Freelander is 2000.

only need the B+E license if you didnt pass your test before 1997 iirc

Toying with the idea atm, possibly the impreza..to tracks etc

Or get a towing "A" frame less weight

whats sorta the smallest car you could tow a car that size with?

Most family cars are out. 1800kg is lots.

Plus you should probably build in the 85% margin which is also explained on this page -

Means you need to be closer to 2200kg which is definate heavy 4x4 category. Even a lot of vans would be out with that load.
