How hard is it? is it a simple change over from a 1.6 16V or are there any conversion parts needed?

Also what vehicles could i find the X18XE?

The situation is:

I need a workvan so i have sold my C20LET and at the moment my GSI is sitting on axle stands with no Engine! i could get a 1.8 with box loom and Ecu for very cheap! £100

i have my 1.6 still but am wondering if its worthwhile putting the 1.8 in? are they reliable and im kinday liking the idea of them having a simple inlet etc rather than pissing about with the 16XE one!

the 1.8 is as reliable as all the vaux engines.. they get abused they break..

personaly i would get a 18xe1 and put it in there its got ok torque and ok bhp so not a bad thing at all

You keep your original rack.. Although I woudl recommend getting a 12v rack and EPS column as you will have the space in the kick panel for the ECU once you fit the 1.8.
