how would this perform against this, becuase i was reading the description in the RED GSI add and it says its a more suitable engine for the corsa chassis can sum 1 shed the light :O

i'm no expert but personally i'd be going for daveylc's 1.8 just because he knows what hes talking about when it comes to 1.8 conversions + much more modern engine. Just my opinion though. Not sure how they compare performance wise.

Yes he does, Dave is an ace chap AND I can really see the atttaction in the 1.8 16v engine, its low down torque and how willing it is to rev

PLus that car has been looked after very very well and the workmanship on it is 100%

Its true once you get up to 'illegal' speeds the XE will leave the XE1 for dead.

But if you want something that weighs sod all and rips off the line and is reliable the 1.8 is the way to go..

XE all the way for me. In standard from the 1.8 can't compete plus there are more tuning parts out for the XE and knowledge a plenty.
