.... I've just spent the last 2.40mins trying to sort out insurance for a car i'm getting tomorrow. Its a car i've bought which me and my dad can share so i put the car in his name thinking it will be cheaper on insurance and he doesn't have a car at the moment so was ideal.

My dad's 63 and i'm 26 both with no convictions or offence's and my dad has 9 years no claims.

First 3 companys wouldn't insure us cause I didn't have a car of my own. This includes HIC, Adrian Flux and a specialist company i found on Vectra-C.com.
Swinton Quoted me £1500
Alan and Alan (another specialist company) quoted me £630

Then i tried moneysupermarket.com and a company called One Quote Direct showed a online quote as £475.00. So i rang them and they told me that the quote was right but my voluntary excess was £400!!! then £250 compulsory access! The website showed voluntary excess as £0. So then i had to e-mail a copy of the quote over to them and they rang me back to say that they'd do it.

Good result in end but alot of messing around and it makes me wonder how low they can actually go??

I wasn't slating his car.

I meant the refusal of policy and stupidly high prices.

All that agro i was expecting him to say he was trying to insure a VXR.

Yeah that seems like a high premium for that car, same age as me as well.
