F1 resolution found, says Mosley
An agreement has been reached between Formula 1's governing body and the teams to prevent a breakaway series, says FIA president Max Mosley.
The two parties had been engulfed in a bitter row over planned budgetary and technical changes for the new season.
But it appears a resolution has not been found, with Mosley agreeing not to stand for re-election as part of the deal "now there is peace," he said.
More to follow.

So it sounds like there will be some form of compromise on budget cap etc for an agreement to have been made.

Said it years ago.
Get rid of max, get rid of Bernie, F1 can re-structure and move on....
Waste of space the pair of them. Pair of idiots.

Bernie isnt going anywhere seems he basically owns the sport. Getting rid of Max seems a good idea though but really depends who comes in I suppose.

i think the budget cap was a good idea. Would of really opened it up and would mean that a team wouldnt win just because it had the most money. The rich F1 teams just didnt like the idea because it meant that they would not have had such a huge advantage any more

But it appears a resolution has now been found and, as part of the deal, Mosley has agreed not to stand for re-election as president.
"There will be no split. We have agreed to a reduction of costs," added Mosley.
"There will be one F1 championship (but) but the objective is to get back to the spending levels of the early '90s within two years."
F1 surpremo Bernie Ecclestone added that he is "very happy commonsense has prevailed", following a meeting of 120 members of the FIA in Paris aimed at resolving the crisis.
Ahead of the meeting, FIA president Max Mosley had insisted that he would not step down as part of the price of any potential agreement and might even seek re-election as head of world motor sport.
He hit out at what he described as "wholly unjustified criticism" of the FIA, adding: "It is for the FIA membership, and the FIA membership alone, to decide on its democratically elected leadership, not the motor industry and still less the individuals the industry employs to run its Formula 1 teams."
However, it appears Mosley has now agreed to step down when his fourth term as FIA president ends in October, while writs that had been threatened against Ferrari and the other teams in the Formula 1 Teams Association (Fota) - McLaren, BMW Sauber, Renault, Toyota, Red Bull Racing, Toro Rosso and Brawn GP - are likely to be shelved.

Actually the cap is a good idea...
Ferrari spent £160 million last year....
Toyota spent £363 million....
Who done the better????
Budget cap is a good idea, look how many teams want in, but F1 is technology advancement. Look what we have due to F1. Paddle shift, fancy diffs, areodynamics, ABS, traction control, etc etc...
Putting a low cap will slow this down, but as the doors opened to more things you can change, you will get more advancements.
I do agree with WHAT they are trying to do, its just they've gone about it really REALLY badly.
Bernie owns the commercial rights to F1, not the actual sport.

The problem is the time frame though. How anyone could be expected to be spending £200million one year and less than a quater of that 2 years later is rediculous.
Not a bad idea (though the amount of money spent doesn't bother me) but such a poor way to implement it!

Its the pinnacle of motorsport. I dont think there should be a cap on how much is spent.
They should be allowed to spend what they like in pursuit of the ultimate F1 car. So I hope a budget cap doesn't prevent them doing that.
