Just bought a 1.2 8v merit with a very tappy engine but 13 months m.o.t
thinking of putting a 1.4 8v or 1.6 8v in.
has anyone done this before and can tell me what will be needed from the car i find either an astra or a corsa, i dont want a 16v.
I presume all i need is engine ecu and loom
the rest should be the same ?
cheers

i have always worked on 8v's and find them alot easier and more reliable than the 16's it may not be true but its just what i have learnt from experience, i had a 1.8 8v nova and that was bullet proof no matter what you did

1.6 8v from an Astra just needs Corsa engine mount although would need different pulley and alternator if you have a non PAS model. Wiring is exactly the same as the 2.0 XE so there are plenty of guides.
