biggest problem will be dust in there air etc etc, good prepping with tack clothes and paint filters when pouring into the gun reduce bad results and finishes...... take your time and dont rush
then theres your technique in my eyes you can either spray or you cant lol
i use our spray booth at work and i get excellent results which i would say are bodyshop quality tbh lol.....

1200+ grit wet and dry is your friend. Along with a machine buffer and G3.

Small bits are easy to paint, but large areas such as bonnets, roofs and rear quarters would be a bitch to do. You would never get a good finish on it and for the money its going to cost for a ggod compressor and spray gun you may as well pay for it to be done professionally.

I used to spray panels in my garage, just wet the floor when you start.

They're all fresh out of the gun, no rubbing back afterwards. Try to keep the air youre working in as dry and warm as possible. If it's damp, you spray onto cold materials, then the moisture in the air condenses into the paint or lacquer and you get clouding or blooming, which looks shit and will need respraying.

Oh, and this was my kit:

So you don't need massive compressors and multi-million pound guns.

I use a Devilbass and Iwata 400 and find that although they are expensive guns, I can get an excellent finish just the same from a cheap gun.

Fair play Mr Gleave that looks like a good job Take all the advice you've been given, go get a bonnet/wing etc from the scrappies and practice a few times before going anywhere near your Corsa.

As corsa120 says the biggest problem is getting crap in the paint, also temperatures have a big part to play..
Painting small parts is relatively simple once you have mastered the art of preperation and paint mixing, painting a whole car is a different sotry.. Ideally you need some form of extraction to keep as much dust, dirt and insects away from the panels as possible or you will spend a life time flatting out and mopping what you have painted.
IMHO anyone can paint its down to having the skill and patience for the prep work as say they say 80% of the finish is in the preperation.

Get the biggest most powerful compressor you can afford though, otherwise you'll be running out of air quite quickly...

50 litres is fine for a HVLP gravity feed gun, you could probably get away with 25..
definitely work buying a water/oil filter!

if you apply the clear coat when the top layer of the paint coat is still 'soft' this will help reduce 'orange peel'
