I recently passed my bike test and have put a deposit down on my first bike, I know there are a few bikers on here and was wondering where they try for there insurance and if they bother with clothing cover etc as well?
Does it make much difference haveing named locks etc?
Any help would be great

if you really want the bike to be there when you get back it's always best to chain it to something....

Hastings Direct for a few years, very good quotes. Check the details though!!!!
Last month i used that bike comparison insurance site (google it), and it did actually save me £140 (not bad on a £140 policey ) from what my ACTUAL insurer could re-offer me, so worth checking.
Carol Nash/Bennets for multi bike policey.
Check details, some give clothing cover, some dont, likewise some policies will let you ride other bikes, ride to Europe, etc etc... So whatever the price, check the details as its more involved than a car policy.

Yes...
Stay away...
Like Adrian Flux, they give you a nice cheap quote, but god help you should you actually need to claim. Got time to write a novals worth of paperwork? Deal with arrogent sh1tty retarded staff....
Stear clear is my advice. Overall cheapest price is bar far the best usually... Check the details.

check tesco compare bike insureance very very cheap!
locks dont make much differance tbh (to the price) but its quite likely it will go missing if its not chained to something!
a garage will be by far your biggest saving.

I pay about £250 (well pushes 300 with interest on monthly payments) on my imported Yam FZR 400 which isnt kept in a locked garage, no security features etc. All real details i gave them.
That is with MCE, but they have a massive excess, so its all swings and round abouts.
Thats 19 with 1 years NCB
I can insure CBR600RR for same price and the likes of R6's etc
Only reason i didnt buy one because i didnt want to learn to run before i could walk

Have a look on swiftcover for a quote.
I passed my test last Thursday (DAS), and looking at a Bandit 750 or 1200 for a first bike. So far quoted £222 fully comp, and £137 TPFT. This is also declared as parked on a driveway, no alarm on the bike, pillion cover, can ride any other bike, includes commuting and 6k miles a year.
27, 1 year NCB on bike (riding a 125 while only having CBT), and have 6 points (SP50, SP30)

It's group 16. 3900 garage cat 1. Looking at 657 tpft from h&r still seems a lot. But only did cbt march and full last week so prob about right?
