Pretty much made up my mind to flog the M3 now, and the 911 is looking like top candidate for my next car. Has anyone got much experience of them? Been reading through Pistonheads for hours looks interested. Would be thinking of a very tidy/low mileage C2 (faster than C4 and a nicer drive I think) with some extra toys.

He doesn't have a 996. He's got a 993.

Nova_GTE2 (i think thats his username) on here has a 996 though.

Anyway, back on topic:

Your best bet is to check out the Porsche section on PH and ask about there. They will know a lot more then any of us on here. There are some right annoraks on PH

Edit: I see you already have (assuming you're Nik_MSM)

Not sure about age/interior colour though but waiting to hear back anyhow. Looks a tidy example.

prices have dropped like stones....

My preference would be to opt for a better 993. 996's just arent that special, and there second hand prices show this.

They look bare without a spoiler. Couldnt you stretch to a GT3?

They do but in terms of depreciation I would think they are nearly at bottom point. The M3 has suffered terribly over the past few months (I've lost something daft like £200 a week on it) and I want a car that'll do me well for 12 months or so until I have the reddies saved for my next serious toy. Would think a decent 996 at the RIGHT price could be alright..

hhmmm... the interior colour does sound a little odd, however it may be one of those combinations that isn't as bad as it sounds when you see it in the flesh.

A '99 probably makes it one of the first 996's, so to only have 33000 miles is brilliant.
The age of the car itself shouldn't be a problem as long as its been looked after, and judging by the pics and milage, it probably has been.

Good luck with it.

Not for an old car mate, just too expensive. Really saving for a 997 GT3, along those lines but no chance of anything like that for another year to be honest and I just fancy a change + want to sell the M3 while it's actually worth something.

Considered a TVR tuscan? or even stretch to a tamora? Noble M12?

I just dont think the base spec 996 looks much hat for the money you pay.

Adam, that was only one example as he was interested in a p/x with an M3, ideally I am looking at 2001-2002 cars. I deff won't be buying a car with basic spec either, if I can find one with extras it looks pretty good.

Needs to be a daily driver, 10-12k miles a year so none of those would be suitable tbh.
