Im looking around for a car to get, as the Corsa is dead!
Decided that I want a diesel car next for various reasons (all my family live at least 100 miles away, and lots of travelling planned) so need something thats gonna last a bit, as petrol engines seem a bit fragile to me!
Anyway, decided that I want a 1.9TD 306!
Are they any good? Anything I should look out for? What sort of mileage would be ok?
Thanks,
Kris

What is your budget? Best option is to look for a hdi dturbo. You can get them in 3 doors that model. I'd recomend getting it mapped too, 92bhp remap to 115-120 with a non aggresive map, really changes the car. If you get that model it is already quite smart looking too, skirts, cyclone alloys etc.

hi mate, ive just bought a 306 td s, for same reasons as you.

The 306 td is an old car now, so if you can get one with under 100k thats a good start....all though the engines are meant to be bullet proof.

Also CARL, do you know anywhere that do re-maps for the 306???? i know you can do a few things yourself to the car e.g. feul valve, and acuator etc!!!!

I cant see you picking up one with under 100k tbh Engines are pretty bullet proof they come de-tuned from the factory will run a bar of boost without problems

i ran mine 1.5bar daily with the fuel pump maxed out sometimes seen 2bar but gave up the ghost in the end at 2bar

Cheers guys, sounds like quite a promising car to get then! Will keep my eye open for the HDI then!
Really want the 3 door, but they arent that common!
Only had a quick look at local place, but seen quite a few with about 70k on the clock! Which I was amazed at!
And a grand and half would be my absolute max, which with the quick look ive done, should be plenty!
Ideally want to spend under a grand, so I can mod it a little!

Great news about a remap and easy tuning though! Sounds promising! Cant wait to get one! haha

Thanks for the help!

You can't remap the td's mate, you just tweak the fuel pump and turbo, it's the HDI's that you re-map. I know two brothers in Leed's one does td's the other has all the maps for the hdi, spot on lads, a lot of people can tweek the td's though its not a massive job if you are handy with a spanner.

Quite nice cars to drive if I'm honest, my mate has one - S reg 3dr 1.9DTurbo S he wants to sell it but needs a bit of attention to the drivers side window and lock - typical french! They're bloody loud as well, really tractoriffic! But a good all round car, hdi is probably the one to get though
